My biography
 
I began my own journey to healing others in 1982 when I graduated from the University of Southern California (USC) with a Bachelor's degree in Psychology. Later, I obtained my Master's degree in Psychology from the California State University of Northridge, and I have been a licensed Child, Marriage, and Family Therapist since 1991.
 
Relevant to your needs, the following is some of my experience in treating adults, adolescents, couples and families:
  • I have worked as a Director in adolescent residential facilities and Day treatment programs;
  • For two years, I was the Clinical Director for a battered    women's organization;
  • I was an adjunct professor at the University of Denver's Graduate School of Social Work;
  • I founded and administered a mental health clinic in Denver, which provided mental health services to the under served.
  • I served on the State of Colorado Mental Health & Advisory Board for several years.
  • I worked in Child protection as a caseworker and a supervisor
 
 
Personally, I am very proud of having Latino roots and I am bilingual in Spanish. My commitment to diversity is global as I embrace clients of any religious, cultural, ethnic, racial, and sexual orientation backgrounds.
 
 
 
Clinical services provided
 
  1. To address mood disorders (depression, post-postpartum, bipolar); anxiety disorders (OCD, panic attacks, phobias, post-traumatic stress); trauma (sexual, physical), I utilize a cognitive-behavioral and psycho dynamic approach.
  2. : To address relationship issues for diverse couples (same-sex, unmarried, married, biracial), I utilize a developmental and solution-focused approach.
  3. : To address relationships in traditional families, blended families, foster and adoptive families, same-sex families and single parents, I utilize a structural, systemic approach with each family member being accountable for change.
  4. : To address teen's behavioral, relationship, ADHD, and academic problems, my approach requires the involvement of the family unit as it alleviates stressors on the family and provides appropriate modeling for the teen's success.
  5. As a Certified Child & Family Investigator, I accept court orders to provide child custody evaluations and make clinical recommendations for divorce couples.
